Maker Talk: Lite Brite Neon Studio | Felix Gonzalez-Torres’s “Untitled” America

In this Maker Talk, matteline deVries-dilling of Lite Brite Neon Studio will be talking about their process for fabricating light strings for Felix Gonzalez-Torres’s artwork, “Untitled” (America), currently on display at the MLK Library in conjunction with a major exhibition presented by the National Portrait Gallery and Archives of American Art. In their talk, matteline will go into both the technical aspects of fabricating light-based artworks, including “Untitled” (America)— and how Felix Gonzalez-Torres’s work has influenced the studio’s collaboration with artists.

Originally from the DMV, matteline got their start in light art fabrication in D.C., working with Craig Kraft, an instructor from the Smithsonian Institution.
