Shocking everyone who has been a fan of Bowen Yang since he joined NBC’s “Saturday Night Live” in season 47, it was announced Friday that this Saturday, December 20th, will be his final appearance on the long-running sketch comedy show.

Yang will be going out with a bang during a highly-anticipated episode hosted by his “Wicked For Good” co-star Ariana Grande and musical guest Cher.

Representatives for SNL and Yang have not provided any further detail about his departure or why he is leaving the show mid-season. Many long-time members of the show departed the cast before this current season began including Heidi Gardner, Ego Nwodim, Devon Walker and Michael Longfellow.

It’s reported that this departure will not affect his popular “Las Culturistas” podcast that Yang hosts with Matt Rogers.

You can watch Bowen Yang’s final episode at 11:30pm ET Saturday, December 20th on NBC.
